My exhibitions of recent paintings are abstractions of portraits, figures, landscapes, city scenes, flowers and trees. I'm inspired by Modern Master artists and Abstract Expressionism. I draw images from nature models and photographs to create a realistic image integrated with abstracted forms. The technique is a building up of layers of paint, which in some paintings create a camouflage of shapes and colors. I try to create movement between negative and positive space. My emphasis is on colorful abstraction of texture and movement and its emotional impact on the viewer. I've demonstrated and taught my unique painting styles at Spruill Center for the Arts, Kudzu Art Zone, Dunwoody Fine Arts Association, NGAA Suwanee Art Center and John's Creek Art Center.
I earned an M.F.A in Painting from UCLA, where I studied under a faculty of famous artists such as David Hockney and other great lecturers. I taught courses in art and design at The Art Institute of Atlanta from 1996 to 2014. I currently teach painting classes at various venues around Atlanta, Georgia.
